J.C. Cox. Obituary
Pelzer, SC
J.C. Cox, Jr., 85, husband of Frances McCall Cox, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017 at his home.
Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late J.C. and Thelma Nichols Cox. He was owner of J.C. Cox Construction and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. J.C. was a member of the Board of Directors at First Citizens Bank and served on the West Pelzer Fire Department Board from 1963-2006. He was also a member of the Williamston Masonic Lodge, a Shriner and a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Michael Cox and his wife, Jacqueline of Pelzer; daughter, Melonie Hooker and her husband, Scott of Williamston; grandchildren, Jacob and Jena Cox, Chris (Megan) Williams, Cheri Hooker Jenkins (Mike); great-grandchildren, Riley and Kailey Williams, Landon, Logan and Lillie Jenkins; brothers, Johnny Cox of Williamston and Landrum Cox of Abbeville; sisters, Callie Anderson of Marietta and Lelia Mae Cox of Black Mountain, NC.
He was predeceased by a brother, Calvin Cox.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 17, at New Hope Baptist Church with the service following at 3:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church Building Fund, 108 New Hope Road, Pelzer, SC 29669 or to Regency Hospice, 880 S. Pleasantburg Drive, Suite 1-A, Greenville, SC 29607.
The family members are at their respective homes.

We are so sorry to hear about Jc. He was a good friend and flying buddy. We had a lot of good memories and laughs. Took my wife on her first loop, he will be missed.

We were so sorry to learn of J.C.'s passing. He and Frances were role models for us from our teenage years of growing up in New Hope Baptist Church. We appreciate his hiring Everette "temporarily" in 1988 at Dalton Carpets when Bigelow Carpets moved their headquarters to Winston Salem. This temporary job lasted 14 years until Ev's retirement in 2002. All of your family will be in our thoughts and prayers in the difficult days ahead.
