Jimmy Ray Cox

Belton, SC

Jimmy Ray Cox, 64, beloved husband of Jeanne McClain Cox, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016, at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born December 26, 1951 in Anderson, he was the son of the late Frank Bowlan and Julia Pressley Cox. He was a graduate of Palmetto High School and Forrest College. Jimmy worked several years with Sullivan Hardware and was an accountant with White Jones Hardware for the past 38 years. He was a lifelong member of Union Grove United Methodist church where he had served as church treasurer, financial officer, Sunday school teacher, president of the United Methodist Men, cooked for the United Methodist Men for over 40 years, choir member, sound and video technician and was a member of the administrative council. He was loved by everyone who had the privilege to know him.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne M. Cox of the home; three brothers, Terry Cox and wife, Helen of Belton, Wallace Cox and wife, Bessie and Ranny Cox and wife, Lynn of Anderson; and several nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin sister, Judy Cox.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 16, at Union Grove United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Amy Bratton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 p.m. Sunday at Sullivan-King Mortuary. Family members are at their respective homes.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Grove United Methodist Church, 3332 Highway 29 North, Belton, SC 29627 or Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
