Olien Chambers

Olien Chambers, 80, husband of Beatrice Gibson Chambers, of 341 South Avenue, Newry, SC, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at Oconee Memorial Hospital, Seneca, SC. A lifelong resident of Newry, Mr. Chambers was the son of the late Barnett and Ruth Baker Chambers. He retired as a pattern builder for the textile industry and was a member of Newry Church of God. Mr. Chambers was a US Navy Veteran who served his country in WWII. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his wife, Mr. Chambers is survived by: Daughters: Diane Jones and husband, Donnie, West Union, SC, Gail Greene and husband, Gamuel, Newry, SC Faye Owens and husband, Jack , Newry, SC, Brothers: J.B. Chambers , Seneca, SC, Charles Chambers, Seneca, SC Eight Grandchildren and Fifteen Great-Grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Chambers was predeceased by son, Danny Chambers, and brothers, Calvin and Harold Chambers. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM, Friday, July 20, 2007, from Newry Church of God with burial to follow in Courtney Memorial Cemetery in Seneca. The body will be at the church at 2:30 PM. The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 PM, Friday, July 20, 2007, at the church prior to the service.
