Herbert Cauble Obituary

Herbert Cauble, Jr. SALISBURY Mr. Herbert Otha Cauble, Jr., 88, of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at the W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center of Salisbury. Born June 24, 1924, in Salisbury to the late Herbert Otha Cauble, Sr. and Lizzie Owen, he was educated in the Rowan County schools. Mr. Cauble served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was co-owner of Towel City Tire in Kannapolis. Mr. Cauble was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, where he joyfully sang in the Salem Men's Chorus, and was a member of the Mr. and Mrs. Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the 0106 Legion Post. Mr. Cauble and his wife, Edith, shared a lifelong passion for gardening and flowers. Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Edith McCubbins Cauble; two sons, Herbert Otha Cauble, III and wife, Becky, and Danny Cauble and wife, Betsy, all of Salisbury; brother, Jack F. Cauble and wife, Linda, of Salisbury; three grandchildren, Brad Cauble and wife, Cindy, Kari Cauble Lovette and husband, Monty, and Daniel Cauble; and two great-grandchildren, Cole and Drew Cauble. A visitation will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, in the parlor of Salem Lutheran Church. The funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church, officiated by the Rev. Doug Hefner. Burial will follow at Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church, 5080 Sherrills Ford Rd., Salisbury, NC 28147.
