Mable West Obituary

Mable West CONCORD Mrs. Mable Teeter West, 89, passed away Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011 at Crescent Heights. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 16, at 2 p.m. at Forest Hill United Methodist Church (Historical Sanctuary) in Concord with the Rev. David Hockett officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor. Private burial will be held at Carolina Memorial Park. Mrs. West was born Jan. 11, 1922 in Stanly County to the late Henry William Teeter and Ethel Sells Teeter. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hampton West; a brother, Clyde Teeter; and two sisters, Dean Sasser and Ramelle Austin. Mrs. West retired from Cannon Mills and was a member of Forest Hill United Methodist Church. Survivors include her son, Barney West and his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Joyce Moore and her husband, Carlos and Betty Roskind and husband, Richard; seven grandchildren, Hamp West and his wife, Karen, Mary Margaret Underwood and her husband, Bob, Dan West, Virginia Moore, Gregory Moore, Hunter Roskind and Ian Roskind; eight great-grandchildren, Charles West, Mary Katherine West, Mary Cannon Dickens, Scottie Dickens, Hampton Dickens, Michael Dickens, Branson West, and Seth Roskind. She is also survived by a sister, Margaret Furr of Oakboro and a brother, Bill Teeter of Columbia, S.C. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Forest Hill United Methodist Church, 265 Union Street N., Concord, NC 28025. Condolences may be left at www.wilkinson funeralhome.com. Wilkinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the West family.

I was lucky to have met Mable when I work a year at Cresent Heights. I was her housekeeper and server during meals.
May thoughts and prayers are with all of
her family. May she always be remembered as I do...A wonderful, kind, private, compassiate lady.
