Derk Meenink Obituary

Derk Jan "Dick" Meenink, 87, resident of Cove Road, husband of Brenda Stroud Meenink, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2024 at his home.

Born August 22, 1936, in the Netherlands, he was a son of the late A.H. and H.W. Meenink. He served in the Dutch military and Ninety Six Presbyterian Church. He was employed with the automotive industry.

Dick was enlisted by our Lord to join in the Supreme Soccer Team.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughter, Helen (Gregory) Daus of Springfield, MO; step-daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Wren of Ninety Six; grandchildren, Nick (Joanne) Meenink, Leon Meenink, Andrew (Kelly) Daus, Joe (Alyssa) Daus, Madeline Daus; Pieter Nyhuis and Jaclyn Nyhuis; and one great-grandchild, Nova Meenink.

Mr. Meenink was preceded in death by one son and daughter-in-law, Albert (Geke) Meenink; two brothers, Ab Meenink and Toon Meenink; and one sister, Stien Weevers.

He was twice married, first to the late Gerrie Meenink-Hietveld.

The family is at the home on Cove Road.

Memorials made to Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.
