Jackson Cauley Obituary

Jackson Alan Cauley, son of Evelyn and Jack Cauley, joined his heavenly family on November 3, 2024. He was born March 13, 1978.

Alan attended Greenwood schools. His undergraduate degree was earned at the College of Charleston, where he was inducted into the Golden Key International Honor Society. A Masters Degree was completed at Cambridge University.

His most enjoyable work was in the field of human services, evidence of his generous spirit, kindness and loving heart. Animals were drawn to his tender care. His beautiful smile could light a room, often accompanied by a sitcom-worthy sense of humor that was a treat for all. A talented vocalist and pianist, Alan sang baritone in the auditioned College of Charleston Concert Choir. His affection for his church family at Tranquil United Methodist Church brought him home to participate in special music events with his beloved choir, whose love and support gave him much joy.

One of Alan's greatest pleasures was hiking with family and friends in the mountains. A second was baking pound cakes which were the envy of even the best bakers. He had a secret passed on to him from one of his neighborhood "grandmothers".

Alan is survived by his parents, sister, Liz Galizia (Nick), niece, Soleil Grace Galizia and aunt Diane Cauley Rainey (Jim).

A Celebration of Life service will be at noon Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Tranquil UMC, conducted by The Reverend Crystal Champion and The Reverend R. Douglas White. The family will receive friends at the social hall following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Connie Maxwell Children's Ministries, 810 Maxwell Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646, a ministry dear to Alan's heart, or Tranquil UMC, 1702 McCormick Highway, Greenwood, SC 29646.

Alan was such a special person to me ! He was thoughtful and kind and had an amazing sense of humor. I am so sorry for your loss. My favorite memory of Alan is when I got my first office job and he brought me office warming gifts - he wrote "Dr Brunson " on them - it was hilarious and very thoughtful at the same time.

Dear Evelyn, Jack, and Liz, I'm so sorry to hear about Alan's passing. He was truly a one-of-a-kind soul that brought so much light into my life (and so many more that loved him). I lost a brother a few years ago and it was completely earth shattering, especially having to watch my mother bury her child. Evelyn and Jack, there are truly no words except to say I wish you strength and comfort. And Liz, Alan always adored his sister and I'm sorry for the pain you must feel right now. Alan loved his family so much and that love will continue to live on. I imagine Alan feeling peaceful and free, soaring and singing in the heavens. Being the free spirit that he always was at heart. My heart breaks for you all in your time of profound grief and I will continue to keep you in my thoughts. What an incredible human being you all helped raise and cultivate. His memory and legacy will never die as he was so deeply loved. Rest in Peace, dearest Alan, and thank you for all the beautiful memories.

Evelyn, Jack, and Liz, may God shower you with comfort and peace during this difficult time . Alan was such a caring and loving person, as well as talented with his singing. Alan shared his gift for helping others and making them feel special. His beautiful smile warmed others hearts. For reasons unknown to us, it was Alan´s time to move to heaven, and be a guardian angel to watch over us all. Alan and I kept in touch over the years. I will miss him until we meet again.
