Maxine McDougal Obituary

Maxine Terry McDougal, 91, of Abbeville, SC, formerly of Gaffney and Easley, SC, wife of the late George Wayne 'Mac' McDougal, died Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Ansley Glen at Greenwood. She was born in Vinita, OK to the late Everett and Edna Parnell Terry.

A graduate of Weatherford Junior College, Maxine retired as the devoted bookkeeper for her husband's business, Carolina Fabrication Sales, Easley, SC. Beyond her work, she was a member of the Pomaria, SC Eastern Star and Mesopotamia United Methodist Church in Gaffney, SC. Maxine's interests brought her much joy, particularly her love for Alabama Softball, which she followed passionately. She cherished moments spent fishing, traveling and relaxing by the lake, finding happiness in nature's beauty. 'Nana' as she was affectionately known by her family, will be fondly remembered as the steadfast rock of her family - her support, love and guidance were the cornerstones that brought her loved ones together.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy King and Carmaleta Lorenz.

Maxine is survived by her three daughters, Carol Boothe (Johnny) of Berea, SC, Sherry Duncan (Larry) of Abbeville, SC and Cathey 'Charlie' McDougal of Gaffney, SC; four grandchildren, Ashlea Duncan, Brandon Duncan, Josh Alman and Sam Alman; two step-grandchildren, Teresa and Johnny; six great-grandchildren, Parker, Paisley, Kenadee, Cali, Jordyn and Dax; and her sister, Shirley Collins of Broken Arrow, OK.

The family will receive friends 12:00PM - 1:00PM, Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Harris Funeral Home, 302 N. Main Street, Abbeville, SC. Funeral services will begin at 1:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Angelia Price officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2410 Gentry Memorial Hwy., Pickens, SC 29671.

The family is at the home of Larry and Sherry Duncan.
