Sue Thompson Obituary

Sue Yeargin Thompson, of Waterloo, widow of James "Jimmy" Thompson, Jr., passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024, at her home.

Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Bruce and Bertie Lowe Yeargin. Sue was an athlete and had a passion for tennis, frequently playing with the country club team and volunteering at the Festival of Flowers Tennis Tournament. She was known for her vibrant social life, often seen at The Dock and Montagues. Sue loved the lake life and also enjoyed shagging with her husband. She was a childhood member of Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Earl Yeargin (Jewel) and O'neil Yeargin.

Surviving are her daughter, Kelli Thompson Fant and son, James H. "Jim" Thompson, III, both of Greenwood; sister Charlene Pacheo (Bob); brother, Dewey Yeargin (Despina); and sister-in-law, Elise Yeargin.

The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 5-7pm.

Harley Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
