Alan Manship Obituary

Alan R. "Hoot" Manship 61, of Fortville, died July 14, 2006 at Community Hospital North. He was born June 2, 1945 to the late Ross A. and Nina K. (Brantlinger) Manship. Alan was a Fortville Police Officer for 26 years, prior to that he worked for Rees Service in Fortville for 20 years. He was a member of the Fortville Town Council, 40 year member of the Fortville Volunteer Fire Dept., Fortville Town Precinct Committeeman, member of the Fortville F & AM Lodge No. 207, past member of the Vernon Township Advisory Board, Past President of the Hancock County Firefighters Mutual Aid Assn. He enjoyed NASCAR and patrolling the streets of Fortville whether on duty or not. Alan is survived by wife Margie (Leonard) Manship whom he married June 26, 1964; sons Todd (Tammy) Manship of Orlando, FL and Jay (Janet) Manship of Fortville; 4 grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sister Barbara Jean Alford and grandson Matthew Todd Manship. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Fortville Christian Church, 9450 N. 200 West, Fortville. Friends may call on Monday, July 17, 2006 from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Gravel Lawn Cemetery Chapel Fund P.O. Box 35 Fortville, IN 46040. Arrangements entrusted to Seals Funeral Home, Fortville.
