Carl Jacobson Obituary

Carl Jacobson

Carl Jacobson, husband, father, brother and friend to many, died peacefully with his wife Kathie of 45 years, and daughter Carla, by his side. Carl was born in Rhode Island but lived in Indiana the past 47 years and loved his Indiana family, great friends and wonderful neighbors. Carl graduated from the University of Rhode Island, and was proud to serve as a United States Marine. He retired from the Federal Highway Administration. Carl was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, which he cherished. Thank you Kent and Rob and our church family. Carl is survived by wife Kathie, daughter Carla and sister Sonya Jacobson.

In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the charity of your choice. A tribute to Carl will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 from 1 - 5 p.m. at Oakley-Hammond Funeral Home, Moore & Kirk Irvington Chapel, 5342 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46219.

To my Cousin, Sonya , my Cousin, Carl's sole surviving sibling, and to Carl's beloved wife Kathie, and daughter, Carla, I send my heart and prayers to you during this time of sorrow, today and into all of the tomorrows.

Carl sent me periodic notes while I was serving in South East Asia during the Viet Nam War, and continued to do so as I was challenged in other world conflicts including Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and Enduring Freedom. His love, honor and support has always present in my life even though we seldom verbally spoke.

It is his stature, his smile that is as wide as the mighty world oceans, and his unique voice, I shall ever remember, and his love of family and country will be forever revered.

Please find comfort in knowing that Carl now joins his father, Norman, his mother, Marguerite, and his sister, Carol, on his Uncle Hugo's and Aunt Donna's great sailboat in the sky. No doubt his father and mine are planning a prank to pull on him as soon as his strength returns from his long journey into the heavens. I wish we could all be privy to the chatter....one day we all will.

With all my love, Cousin Donna Louise
