David Kiley Obituary
David L. Kiley, Sr. Hamilton County, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 6, at home, surrounded by his loving family. David was born to the late Robert P. and Gretchen Lorig Kiley on January 24, 1928, and resided most of his life in Marion, Indiana. David graduated from Georgetown University and Georgetown School of Law. David practiced law in Marion at Kiley, Kiley, Harker and Certain. He was the Marion City Court Judge; the American Legion Judge Advocate; City Attorney for Marion and Gas City; Founding member, Fellow and Past President of Indiana Defense Lawyers Assn.; Platform Committee Chairman for Indiana Democratic Convention; Chairman of the Grant County Election Board; Jaycee of the Year; President of the Grant County Salvation Army and American Red Cross; Mississinewa School Board Attorney; and Member of the Board of Directors of the First National Bank, Bank One, and Marion General Hospital. David Kiley loved life. He was so proud of his beloved family. He adored playing with his grandchildren, watching any type of sports event and playing golf. David was a great friend and a worthy opponent in the court room, where trial work was his passion. Kiley is survived by his wife of 29 years, Mary Taylor Kiley; daughters, Katherine (David) Fisher, Karol Kiley, MaryEllen (Michael) Bishop, Dr. Amy (Michael) Ertel; sons, Dr. David (Pamela) Kiley, Jr., and Dr. Kevin (Kim) Kiley; and one step-daughter, Angela (Robert) Bilton. He is survived by 18 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his first wife, Joan Gossett Kiley. David was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Robert Patrick Kiley. The family would prefer contributions be made to St. Paul's Catholic Church, Marion, Indiana or Holy Spirit at Geist Catholic Church, Fishers, Indiana. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Marion with Rev. Richard Weisenberger officiating. Burial will follow in Grant Memorial Park, Marion. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. in Needham-Storey-Wampner, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Avenue, Marion.
