91, died August 10, 2011 at the Franklin United Methodist Community in Franklin, Indiana. Esther was born January 24, 1920, in Richmond, Indiana, the fourth daughter of Ira and Fannie Grose.

Esther was a homemaker who graduated from Indiana Central College (U-Indy) in 1963 with an elementary education degree. She was a member of the University Heights United Methodist Church since 1944, where over the years she served on many committees and taught Sunday School and Bible School. She and her late husband Ralph A. She and Ralph were active in the Perry Township 4-H program by serving on the 4-H planning board in conjunction with Perry Township Schools. She also served as a club leader for several years. She and Ralph organized and ran the draft horse show at the Marion County Fair from 1971 until 2004.

Esther was preceded in death by Ralph Coddington in 2004, her husband of 61 years; her parents; and three sisters Annetta Osmundsen, Zana Blevins, and Martha Rees.

She is survived by three children, daughters Doretta Faust of Evansville, Laona (Gary) Emsweller of Danville; son James (Therese) Coddington of Greenwood; grandchildren Damon (Angela) Faust, Dara Faust, Drew (Lacy) Emsweller, Bree Emsweller, Lacey Harris, and Lindsay (Josh) Fountain; and four great grandchildren.

Esther was a loving, kind, strong woman who supported her family, friends, church, and university. She enjoyed living at the Franklin United Methodist Community since 2004. The family wishes to thank the kind nurses who cared for her, the supportive, friendly staff and all her friends.

A memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 27, 2011 in Franklin United Methodist Community Wright Chapel. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the service at the Franklin United Methodist Community.
