Evart M. Beck
Died on Nov. 23, 2011, age 93. He was born October 2, 1918 to James Bruce Beck and Jessie Stoops Beck in Anderson, Indiana. He married Caroline Kinney in 1946 and they had a loving marriage for 65 years.
After graduating from Anderson High School, attending Ball State University for undergraduate classes, he graduated from Indiana University Medical School in 1942.
He completed his medical residency there and became a fellow of the American College of Physicians in 1950. His medical education was interrupted by service in the U.S. Navy. He had a solo practice in internal medicine until 1996. He was on the medical staff at Methodist, St. Vincent and Community North. For a time he was Associate Professor of Medicine at I.U. Medical Center, served 2 years as chief of staff at Winona Hospital and served many years on the admissions committee to medical school and was president of Indiana Society of Internal Medicine.
He is survived by: his wife Caroline, son Jim (Mary) Beck, daughter Barbara (Mark) Wibel, daughter Patricia (Michael) Audet, son Dr. Stephen (Kimberly) Beck, and grandchildren: Jon Beck, Marissa Wibel, and Adrienne and Sophie Beck.
Funeral Services will be held privately. Memorial donations may be made to Northminster Presbyterian Church, 1660 Kessler Blvd, Indianapolis, 46220.
