Gabriel Markisohn Obituary

Gabriel Markisohn Died on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 in his home in Middletown, Delaware. Gabe was born in Budapest, Hungary on May 29, 1932. A survivor of the Holocaust, Gabe immigrated to the United States in 1947 and lived with a foster family in St. Louis, Missouri. At University City High School, Gabe excelled at track and academics which led to a scholarship to attend Princeton University. A member of the graduating class of 1956, he obtained a degree in civil engineering, achieved several honors in track, and served as track captain. Gabe pursued his career interest in St. Louis, Orlando, Washington, D.c., Ottawa, Wilmington and Indianapolis. The last 25 years of his career were spent as an innovator in the design, construction, and management of senior living and nursing home facilities. Gabe is survived by his wife, Teresa (Terry); his children, Jim Brad, and Kathy and their life partners, Nancy, Debbie, Diane; his five grandchildren; Jeremy, Nicole, Sara, Hannah, Jacob,; his brother and sister-in-law; Paul and Elizabeth Markison, and their son Brian and his family. A celebration of his life will be held in Princeton, New Jersey on Saturday, December 3rd at 1:30 p.m. in the University Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a contribution be made to The Friends of Princeton Track, Princeton, New Jersey, 08544-5357. Arrangements handled by: Schoenberg Memorial Chapel, Delaware.
