George Clark Obituary

George A. Clark M.D.

passed away peacefully on April 14, 2015 after a long battle with Pick's Dementia. He was born December 14, 1927 in Indianapolis to C.P. Clark, M.D. and Isebella Brodie Clark.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley Sprague Clark and his sister Martha Clark Rice.  Growing up in Indianapolis, he attended Shortridge H.S., then joined the Marine Corps. at the end of World War II serving as an aircrewman.  After discharge he attended Indiana University for undergraduate studies and medical school.  He and Shirley married in 1953 and he joined the Air Force, serving as a flight surgeon.  He practiced Ophthalmology with his father and later his son in Indianapolis.  Dad loved caring for his patients, visiting with them and learning about their lives.

He enjoyed flying, helping the Delta Tau Delta house in Bloomington and watching I.U. football and basketball, as well as Pacers, Racers and the Colts.  He is survived by his children; G. Gregory Clark, M.D. (Dr. Anne), James S. Clark, Karin Clark Ott and seven grandchildren.

We will be celebrating his life on the 29th of May at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, with calling from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and services following at 4 p.m.  Please take note of new times, but same day for services. Donations can be made to the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired.  The family would like to thank the staff at Hoosier Village for their loving care these last years.
