Herschel Lile Obituary
Indianapolis - 79, passed away October 19, 2018. He was born August 7, 1939 in Martinsville, IN. to the late Herschel and Elizabeth Lile. Herschel proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, and married Josephine Cox. He retired from Allstate Insurance Company where he worked for over 33 years as a claims adjuster and in management. Herschel was also co-owner of Concrete Plus for several years and also co-owner of Employment Plus for two years.
Herschel was a former member of Westside Church of the Nazarene and a current member of Castleton Church of the Nazarene. He was a former member of both the Kiwanis Club and the Masonic Lodge. Herschel was an avid golfer and enjoyed square dancing with his wife Josephine for many years. He was involved with his children, and grandchildren in many sports, such as boxing and wrestling. Herschel played such an important part as Patriarch of his family; he is loved and will be missed very much.
Herschel is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Josephine; children, Sue Hoene (Frank), Debbie (Bob) Burgess, Teresa (David) Fincher, Joe (Melissa) Lile, Becky (Scott) Christopher, Kathy (Paul) Augustine, James (Sheila) Lile, Herschel (Jennifer) Lile, and Marcus (Emily) Rainford; 31 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Eda Kole.
Visitation will be Friday, October 26, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Rd. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Castleton Church of the Nazarene, 7848 Allisonville Road with visitation one hour prior.
