Irving Ball Obituary

Irving F. Ball

Irv passed away peacefully at home on October 20, 2015, after a long illness. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He was born on February 22, 1928 and grew up in Indianapolis. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was a graduate of Shortridge High School in 1946, where he was President of the Senior Class, an honor student, and captain of the football team. He went to Northwestern University on a football scholarship where he graduated in 1951 with a degree in Industrial Engineering. Irv was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He later earned an MBA in Mortgage Banking.

He served in the U.S. Navy as Ensign and then Lieutenant during the Korean War.

Irv was active in his community. He was a member of Service Club, Indianapolis Kiwanis Club, I.A.C., "500" Festival Associate Member, and Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, where he served as Elder and Trustee. He also was a frequent volunteer in the soup kitchen at Tabernacle.

Irv was a Vice President of American Fletcher National Bank and later Bank One where he retired in 1993. In retirement, Irv and his beloved wife Pat, enjoyed traveling all over the world.

Irving was preceded in death by his parents, Irving O. Ball and Priscilla Ball; and daughter, Suzanne Ball Gunter. He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Ball; sister, Patricia McVey; son, Steven I. Ball (Amy Henn); daughter, Kathryn Ball Laesch; grandchildren, Spencer I. Ball, Brian A. Laesch, Jordan I. Laesch, Kelsey J. Laesch, Kristen L. Gunter, and Hayley S. Gunter; and nieces and a nephew.

Calling will be held on Friday, October 30th, 2015 at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church from 1 to 3 p.m., with a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis Kiwanis Club, or Service Club.
