James Kennedy Obituary

James L. Kennedy 87, of Fishers, passed away Oct. 1, 2009. He was born in Peru, IN Aug. 12, 1922, to Edward A. and Marybelle Kennedy. Jim attended Butler University and loved to cheer Bulldogs basketball. He was in the Army infantry in France during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was treasurer, then president, of a construction company. He was kind, gracious and honorable. He loved to read and lived to travel. Give the man a crossword and he could finish it in a New York minute! He was a quiet man who silently helped many people. He was revered. He was a long-time past board member of St. Elizabeth's Home, United Way, a member of the Columbia Club, and Sigma Chi Fraternity. Jim is survived by his wife, Marge; sons, James L. (Victoria), Michael H. (pegg), William P., John F. (Celeste) Kennedy; stepsons, Stephen (Lisa) and Timothy J. (Diane) Farley; stepdaughters, Karen E. (Steve) Dutchess, Kathy L (Dave) McCaw, Fran (Lyle) Kendall; 18 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Betty. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, Oct. 3rd at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. Friends and family will gather from 9 am-10 am before mass at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Elizabeth Coleman Pregnancy & Adoption Services, United Way, or a charity of your choice.
