James Slagle Obituary

James E. Slagle passed away peacefully, at age 77, in the presence of his immediate family. Jim severely injured his spine in a fall on May 11th. He never regained consciousness before his death on May 14, 2018.

Jim was born in Yakima, Washington attending Marquette High School. The family moved to Seattle in the early 60's where Jim graduated from the University of Washington. Jim lived in San Francisco, California and Juneau, Alaska doing residential painting. In Alaska, Jim blossomed as an actor. His memory for Shakespearean verse was legendary among the family.

Jim and twin brother John had an amazing and very loving relationship with their parents. Jim was a true friend and he valued his relationship with his neighbors in Wallingford. Jim was generous to those in need. His loving spirit and companionship will be sorely missed.

Jim is survived by his twin brother John, brothers Gene (Diane), Vernon (Maureen), and Tom (Nancy) and brother-in-law Dick (Nathalie, d.) Kuehl and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial mass will be held at on May 24th at 11:00am
St. Benedict Catholic Church in Wallingford
1805 North 49th Street
Seattle, Washington 98103.
Reception to follow.

Still remembering Jim and still keeping an eye on John from across the street as we all deal with Covid Last time I saw John, he seemed to be doing well.

My condolences to the Slagle Family for the loss of your brother, Jim. I have lived across the street from John and recently, Jim, for many years, even as far back as when your parents lived there in the cute little house on the corner. Jim was a congenial and friendly neighbor, and I always enjoyed stopping for a little chat whenever I was out and about. To be honest, I wasn't always entirely sure which one of the twins I was talking to since Jim and John looked so much alike! They were equally pleasant and gracious (which is not to say they were interchangeable!). I hope you will all find comfort in the closeness and support of each other as you grieve your loss. Jim will truly be missed. I am grateful to have known him. Sincerely, Kathy O'Hara

I enjoyed visiting Jim and John and their Dad, Gene Sr., a few times several years ago, when I lived in Kirkland. He was upbeat and had a good sense of humor. Cousin, Nancy
