John Talbott Obituary

John Talbott Sr.

Bloomington - John Sutcliffe Talbott died in Bloomington, Indiana on August 25th, of old age. John was a native of Middlesboro, Bell County, KY and served with the US Navy during World War II. Along with his wife of 55 years, Ginny Duffy, he helped co-found the Saint Vincent DePaul Society of Hamilton County where they both volunteered for more than 20 years. But most importantly, John/Dad/Grandpa/Uncle John will be remembered by family, friends and acquaintances as the nicest, funniest guy they ever knew.

He is survived by his sisters: Emily Gorham, Helen Rundle, Patty Mulheisen, and Joan Sullivan; his children: Emily Virginia, John Sutcliffe Jr., Mary Elizabeth, Paul Duffy, and Mark Edward; his daughter-in-law DeLeigh and grandchildren John Sutcliffe III and Madeleine. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Saint Vincent DePaul Society and the ASPCA.

Arrangements are through The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street, Bloomington, Indiana 47401.

I'm so glad to have known John and all of his family while growing up in Noblesville. He and Mrs. Talbott were always so welcoming to me and so many others visiting their house so often over the years. John was kind and funny and a wonderful father to some great kids I was lucky enough to be friends with in high school and college. Sorry for your loss Talbott Family.

What fun we had! Time spent with Uncle John was time well spent. How fortunate I was to learn from the example of this gentle, hilarious, self-effacing, and deeply wise soul. He lives on in his sons, daughters, and grandchildren; the best people I've known in my life.

He would have been 91 on August 29th. We miss him so much but it was a blessing to be with him.
