Jon Mason Obituary
Indianapolis - Jon David Mason, 76, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. He was born on February 13, 1942 to Carlyle and Mildred (Whitenack) Mason in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
Jon was a graduate of Ben Davis High School, attended Cornell College in Iowa and the University of Evansville, and received a Master's degree in English from Penn State University. A career book dealer & collector, he had a fervor for language, words, and conversation. Jon was a passionate supporter of liberal causes, a lifelong contributor of Planned Parenthood, and a member of many conservation groups. He was a music enthusiast, enjoying jazz and rock and roll every hour of the day.
Jon had family and friends around the world and zealously traveled to meet each one. He is survived by his daughter, Jenny (Tom) Endicott; son, David Stephen (Sara) Mason; sisters, Marna Andrew and Marianne Mason; and seven grandchildren, Tavid, Joseph, Dega, Anna, Emily, Tommy & Sophia.
He is preceded in death and will be greeted with loving arms by his son, Matthew Jon Mason; his first wife, Judith Elaine Innis Mason; his second wife, Susan Lee Piper Mason, and his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 16. Jon's care has been entrusted to Randall & Roberts Funeral Homes of Noblesville.

It's hard to believe Jon is 2 years gone. Jon and Susi both enter my thoughts occasionally and I see the world as having a hole in it where they used to be. They left us with the memories of their kindness and unique personalities. As before, we will light a candle tomorrow to celebrate both of their lives.

I just learned of John's passing and it's a surprise. We were bookselling peers and friends since the 1990s. He had a good run and certainly lived life on his own terms. My wife has lit a candle for him, as we do to commemorate the life of a good soul.

I would like to offer my sincere condolences to Jon's family, sorry for your loss. Jeremiah 29:11, 12 assures us that God is thinking thoughts of peace towards us, to give us a future and a hope, and that if we come and pray to Him, He will listen to us. May that bring you comfort at this difficult time.
