Ralph Dees Obituary

Ralph Dees 76, of Indianapolis, passed away March 12, 2008. He was born July 22, 1931 in Liberty, IN to Ralph and Ethel A. Dees. Ralph retired from Smith Trucking, formerly Huber and Huber, in 1989. He enjoyed racing, especially NASCAR, and was the 1963 US National Drag Champion. Ralph was an avid fisherman who participated in and won many fishing tournaments around the region. Of all his hobbies though, Ralph enjoyed the most being a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Loretta M. Dees; children, Dianne Phillips-Flynn, Kathy (Richard) Thompson, Nancy Gootee, John (Linda) Dees, Christopher (Cindy) Gordon, and Steven (Amanda) Sullivan; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Kelly Sullivan (Martin) Tuyub, Jennifer Phillips (Phillip) Jones, Sean Flynn, Jacob Wells, Jeremy Wells, Dylan Gordon, Ashleigh Dees (Jordan) Taylor, Allyson Dees, Jon Dees, Jessica Dees, Steven Sullivan, Haleigh Sullivan, Jayden Sullivan, Chandler Dalton, Alainna Tuyub, and Anthony Tuyub; and many friends from Hardees, the Over the Hill Gang, and more. Services will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 16 at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Avenue, with calling there from 2 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1530 Union St., Indianapolis, IN 46225. Online condolences may be shared at: www.ghherrmann.com
