I remember Dr. Pierce, known to us as R.O.in the place of his birth, Monroe, La. He worked in his dad's drugstore where all teenagers gathered every Sunday afternoon. You had too get to Pierce Drugstore no matter what! Monday wasn't the same if you missed the Sunday afternoon at Pierce's Drugstore where he worked during the summer when he was home. Rest in piece with the rest of your wonderful family that I had the privilege to know.

I was blessed enough to meet Dr. Pierce as a recent high school graduate in a summer research program at IUSOM. Later my dream would come true as I was admitted and graduated from IUSOM in 1998. He was great mentor and inspiration to all of the medical students and residents. I loved the fact that he was always a straight shooter and a matter of fact. He told you exactly how it was. When I saw his work ethic, I knew that being a physician would not be easy. God bless and thank you Dr. Pierce.
