Carmel - Richard E. Topping, 76, of Carmel IN passed away May 23, 2021, surrounded by his family.
A Celebration of Life will be from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm Friday, June 4th at Brookshire Golf Club, 12120 Brookshire Parkway Carmel, IN. Memories and stories will be shared at 4:00pm. Online condolences may be shared by visiting www.flannerbuchanan.com

Dick was quite the tennis player, but he was also quite the tennis volunteer. I probably regripped hundreds of racquets for NJLT and Hamilton County Community Tennis Association. This happy, funny guy had a heart of gold

Bonnie Topping and Family,
I was saddened by the news of Dick's passing. I knew Dick for over 30 years through tennis at the Carmel Racquet Club. The last couple of years was mainly hitting on the clay courts as we both worked through our through various surgeries. He was a tremendous fighter, always wanting to go another five minutes. We'd hit for a bit then sit and talk, mostly about hummingbirds and orioles and how to attract them in northern Indiana. Before we'd head down to Florida for the winter after I retired, I'd stop by the house and he would load me up with detective books getting me hooked on author Michael Connelly. I'll miss our periodic update texts and calls to see how each other was doing. Bonnie, you and your family are in my prayers and thoughts.

I met Dick and Bonnie at Carmel Racquet Club. Dick was a wonderful man, with a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. He knew how to enjoy life. He was also a caring and generous friend to many. I will send a contribution to St Jude's in his honor.
