Robert Stonehill Obituary

Robert Berrell, Stonehill, M.D. 82, Zionsville, died April 30, 2003 at Wishard Hospital. He was born February 14, 1921 in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Stonehill attended Temple University from 1938-1945, where he received an A.B. He served an internship at Jersey City Medical Center in New Jersey from 1945-1946 and his residency at Letterman Army Hospital in San Francisco, CA, from 1952-1955. Dr. Stonehill was a Professor of Medicine for the Indiana University School of Medicine from 1967 to his retirement in 1991. He was the Chief of Pulmonary Disease Service for Wishard Memorial Hospital from 1981 to retirement. Dr. Stonehill served as the Chairman of the Department of Medicine, Wilford Hall, USAF Hospital, San Antonio, TX. from 1961 to 1967. He served in the Korean War in 1950 and retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1967 as a Colonel. He was awarded the Legion of Merit and listed in the American Man of Medical Science. Services: 11 a.m. Sat., May 3 at Zionsville Christian Church with visitation 1 hour prior to services at the church. Survivors: wife Marjorie Leamnson Stonehill; daughters Susan Stonehill Rench, Mary Stonehill and Laura Stonehill; stepsons John and Fred Leamnson; five grandchildren.
