Ruby Mae Graves Nicholas
Died peacefully at home on January 12, 2012. She was born at home on March 6, 1921 in Murphy Hollow, Kentucky to William and Venia (Riley) Graves. She moved to Indianapolis in 1945 and worked at Taystee Bakery.
She is survived by Gene, her loving husband of 63 years; her daughters, Dorothy Johnston (Tom) and Becky Roberts (Susan); her grandchildren, Steve Spears (Lori ), Lisa Bowling (Greg), Laura Reuter (Jim), Tommy Johnston (Stacey), Bobby Clark (Megan), Carrie Morrison (Mike); fifteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Ruby was preceded in death by her son, Tim Spears (Pauline); her daughter, Barbara Clark Shireman and her grandson, Jeff Spears.
Ruby was a great country cook and vegetable gardener and enjoyed watching the cooking channel. She loved her family dearly. She attended General Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at Flanner and Buchanan - Floral Park , Indianapolis at 2 p.m. on Monday January 16. Friends may visit from Noon to 2 p.m.
Donations may be made, in lieu of flowers, to VistaCare Hospice (6431 S. East Street, Indianapolis, IN 46227) who cared for Ruby with great compassion and kindness in her final weeks.

Gene, Becky, Dorothy and families,

I love great Aunt Ruby. Terrific memories of visiting at her home with Great Uncle Gene and her mother Mamie. One terrific family and I wish love and blessings to everyone.

Ruby was a sweet woman. I remember that every year for Becky's birthday she would bake and send a German Chocolate cake(Bek's favorite), and then the care packages filled with cookies. Thank you Ruby! May you be at peace.
