Shayla Davis Obituary
Shayla Renee Davis
33, Indianapolis passed away on April 18, 2013. She attended services at Northside New Era Baptist Church. She worked as a dispatcher for the Indiana State Police Dept. and the Indiana Live Casino. She was a well known vocalist and song writer in the Indianapolis area.
Services will be on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 1 p.m., with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Barnes United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her mother, Lydia Smith; stepbrother, Larry Wilson; grandmothers, Remelle McCray and Delores Saunders (William); grandfather, Preston Johnson

Hello Lydia,
I am sorry for your loss. I pray for your strength during this time and for all of the days ahead. Northside New Era is a large congregation with a large bucket of love for you and your family. I know Shayla's singing carried her through. One day when the choir is done on earth, there will be so much more to sing about in heaven. I hope to sing with Shayla over there.

Ms Lydia your daughter has been on my mind lately and I received a phone call this morning informing me of her being called home. I am very sad to hear that she has left I worked with her at the State Police and she would always talk about her momma everyday. I know you two were extremely close and she was close to your mom as well. So I just want to let you know I will be praying that God sends you his peace and comfort. She was a funny girl she would always keep the whole I.T. section laughing

Lydia my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.
Remember that God has a rose in his garden now along with my rose (son) as well.
They are free of pain and discomfort but will be missed but remembered everyday as gifts from God.

I was terribly saddened to see Shayla's obituary in the newspaper today. I get the paper on Sunday and Thursdays and I typically do not review the Thursday paper for days later and for some unknown reason, I did this morning and immediately contacted my sister (Deborah Morris) who worked with Shayla at the ISP. She always talked about Shayla and how well she could sing. Well, she is singing now for the Lord and that is a good thing. My prayers are with the family as I know she is in God's hands now and is resting when she is not singing. God Bless! Sherri Thompson-Patterson
