Shirley Calvert Obituary

Shirley J. Calvert 81, of Fishers, Indiana, formerly of Elkhart, Indiana passed away Thursday, May 11, 2006 at Clarian North Hospital. Shirley was born on February 12, 1925 in Laporte, Indiana. She was a graduate of Laporte High School. She then married Robert P. Calvert of Elkhart, Indiana. For the first 20 years she worked as a homemaker. Thereafter she worked as a teacher's aid in the Elkhart Public School System. It was there that she proudly retired. Shirley was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Christians Creek Country Club. Four years ago she moved to Fishers, Indiana to be closer to her family. It was there that she really enjoyed her life with her children and grandchildren. Shirley found a way to enjoy every moment of life. Friends and family were the most important things in her rich life on this earth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert and brothers, Jack and Dick Crowe. She is survived by son, Robert (wife Peggy) of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter, Sherry Thomas (husband Mark) of Fishers; son, David (wife Kay) of Fishers; son, James (wife Anne) of Fishers: and son, Timothy (wife Kathryn) of Fishers; grandchildren, Ben and Sarah Calvert, Kelly and Ben Thomas, Natalie Calvert, Claire and Julia Calvert, Allison, Abby and Andrea Wirthwein. Visitation will be Monday, May 15, 2006 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Hartzler - Gutermuth - Inman Funeral Home in Elkhart. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Elkhart. A memorial service will also be held Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. at Christ The Savior Lutheran Church in Fishers. Memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Disability Ministries POB 501645, Indianapolis, IN 46250.
