Shirley Ewing Obituary

Shirley M. Walker Ewing 84, peacefully entered the Lord's presence on Friday, July 10, 2009, tended by loved ones. She is survived by: children, Kathy (Chris) Winks of Seattle, John ( Christy), and Sally ( Michael) Delp; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Alice. Shirley was a graduate of Washington High School, then worked for Westinghouse. She devoted her life to raising three children with John Ewing and served as a secretary for Speedway Christian Church for 30 years, retiring in 2000. She loved her church family. Shirley loved to travel, even solo. She loved music, movies, and television. She knew a song for nearly every occasion and enjoyed singing harmony as a tenor in the church choir. Even to the last, she had a wonderful sense of humor, a sharp memory for song lyrics, people's names, and a special gift for bringing comfort and encouragement to others. In celebration of her life, friends may visit the family at Speedway Christian Church, July 19, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 4:00. Contributions can be made in her honor to the Memorial Fund at Speedway Christian Church. Arrangements handled by Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Royster-Askin-Sandrock Chapel.
