William Gordon McCafferty

Indianapolis - 92, passed away December 30, 2020 at Hamilton Trace in Fishers, Indiana. He was born January 25, 1928 in Washington, IN, to the late Homer and Ruby McCafferty. William married his high school sweetheart, Cora Marie Higgins, April 2, 1950. Sixty of their seventy years married were spent in their home on Poplar Road in Irvington. The memories of times with family, friends and great neighbors meant so much to William.

While still attending Washington High School in Indianapolis, William began working for Peerless Electric Supply Company. He made a career in sales at Peerless and worked there for over fifty years before retiring. William was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Indianapolis, for over 60 years.

During retirement, William enjoyed woodworking and making beautiful furniture for family and friends. William and Marie also enjoyed traveling and getting together on Friday nights for dinner with their longtime friends, Leo and Joan Singleton. William was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Lisby; and brother, Robert McCafferty. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Cora Marie; daughter, Rebecca (Michael) Trotta; grandchildren, Anne Marie Carson, Arden (Alex) Redding, Michael (Lindsey) Trotta, Kathryn (Gavin) Allen and Jennifer (Sean) Morrissey. William was especially proud of his grandchildren and loved visits with his great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Carson, Sydney, Ryan, Noah and Jackson Redding, Tilly Trotta, Owen and Simon Allen, and Charlie and Avery Morrissey.

The family wishes to acknowledge the compassionate care William received from the staff at Hamilton Trace in Fishers, Indiana. The extra efforts taken during the pandemic to provide excellent care and still take time to listen to stories and communicate with family have been so appreciated.
