Just found out yesterday, far, far too late. What a terrible and unexpected shame. He was very good to me and I've always considered him a friend. Rest In Peace Allen. Save a place for me in your next Camera shop in the great beyond !

I am in shock since my coworker told me of Allen's passing.
I have been buying equipment from Allen since I was in high school back in 1977. He was such a great guy, always had time to help and he treated everyone with respect from novice to professional. He had such a wonderful sense of humor and compassion for his customers. I cannot comprehend not seeing him anymore, he was the embodiment of a store owner from the old times when the customer was also a friend.

God has a new angel who can take great pictures!

My deepest sympathies to his friends and family.

I will always miss you Allen,

I just found out about Allen. I live about 3 hours away and wanted to stop in Friday to see him. He always commented about my tattoo on my back of my mother who passed away. I have been going to Allen since I was in 10th grade... About 18 years ago. He will be missed. Always made me smile that he let me take equipment outside to check it out... He said I may in sandals but I can still chase you :) I love you Allen!

I just found out this morning about Allen's passing . . . I'm shocked and saddened. His shop has been my go-to place to buy camera gear, and I felt fortunate to have such a top-notch camera store in the local area. I got to know him somewhat on a personal level because we worked out at the same gym. I left that gym for another one last November, which is the last time I saw Allen. I told I'd see him one of these days the next time I visit his shop. But now that's not possible . . . seems hard to believe.

I just visited the shop and found out. I was in a state of shock and on the verge of tears, they came when I left. Although I didn't know Allen all that well, he was a very sweet man. I am so sorry for your loss.

I just cannot get my brain around the idea that I will never see Allen behind his counter again. It just seems so impossible. I was not a frequent customer, and never really got to know Allen personally, but when I needed to get photography solutions that I could always trust, it was then that I took myself to Allen's. I once brought in a Canon telephoto lens that I had dropped on a concrete floor. The protective filter had shattered and its threads were mutilated. I could not remove it from the lens. Allen saw me there with the lens and he came over, took the lens, and successfully "operated" on the patient. It wasn't a quick job. He didn't charge me a penny.

As everyone is saying, Allen was a beautiful man, both physically and figuratively. I was glad that he was always there for his customers, no matter how amateur they might be. I just hate using the word "was." My thoughts and prayers go out to Allen's family, friends, and clientele. I hope they will be consoled that we all will always remember him fondly. May he rest in peace.

I am simply shocked at the news of Allen's passing. I had just been in the shop in early April to address a need. Allen waited on me, and of course he had the exact accessory to solve the issue. I have patronized Allen's going back to film cameras at his first location. He was a wealth of knowledge, to say the very least, and also a pleasure to deal with. I knew him on a professional level, but I am really going to miss the side conversations and banter we frequently engaged in as well as the man himself. It will not be quite the same visiting Allen's store without Allen present. My deepest condolences to his family and associates.
