ANDREW WILLIAMS Obituary

WILLIAMS
ANDREW B.

died peacefully surrounded by family on November 18, 2017 after a successful lung transplant and brave battle thereafter. Andy was the beloved husband of Sally West Williams; father of Kate (Scott Richelson), Ted, Sam, and Rebecca; and grandfather of Anna and Cassie Richelson and Dana Williams. He is also survived by many other loving family members by birth and by marriage.
Andy was born on April 28, 1954, and was the son of the late Elizabeth Williams Mellor and Harold Percy Williams of Devon, PA. A graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, CT, Andy received his MBA from Temple University. Before founding Philadelphia Inter-national Advisors, he was director of international research at Glenmede Trust Company and an analyst at Lehman Brothers in New York.
A lifelong resident of the Philadelphia area, Andy was devoted to and served his com-munity in many ways, including as treasurer and school committee member of his alma mater, Germantown Friends School, and as rector's warden at St. Thomas' Church, Whitemarsh. Andy loved nothing more than spending time with Sally, their family, and their friends in Blue Bell, on Nantucket, and on his travels to more distant places. He loved England, the land of his father's birth, and among his greatest pleasures was enjoying the beauty of the gardens and lawns around his and Sally's home, surrounded by their children, grand-daughters, extended family, and fellow band members and treasured friends. He was admired and loved and will be missed immeasurably by all.
A Celebration of Andy's life will be held at 3:30 P.M. on Saturday, November 25, at St. Thomas' Church, Whitemarsh, with a reception to immediately follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the West-Williams Scholarship Fund at Germantown Friends School, 31 West Coulter St., Phila., PA 19144.

Andy Williams was a class act. I didn't know him all that well, but enough to know that he was a real gem. My condolences to his family. I will remember him fondly.

Andy was the quintessential Philadelphia gentleman. Kind, thoughtful, humble and bursting with sincerity and youthful enthusiasm. Every day to Andy was the always "the best day of his life". His enthusiasm for life was that contagious.

His financial talent in the international sector was second to none. He set the industry standard and was the talent who put The Glenmede Trust Company on the map when it came to international investing. I will always remember Andy for his joy of life and his sense of humility in spite of his enormous talent.

Gentlemen like Andy do not come around the block each day. He was one of a kind and as his former colleague at Glenmede, I am so very grateful to have known him.

With God's blessings to Andy and his beautiful family at this difficult time.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. Andy was by far my favorite patient to care for. He had me laughing and crying and had all of us so hopeful. He did his very best always, and I will always remember him for his incredible motivation to live. Sally, you're an amazing woman and wife to Andy. I feel so lucky to have seen/felt the enormous amount love between you two. I haven't stopped thinking about you and your beautiful family. I wear the perfume often. Love you, stay strong!

A wonderful friend, husband, father, musician, businessman...truly a man for all seasons. Andy's warm, thoughtful and happy demeanor has always brought a smile to my face and joy to my heart, from the first time we met so many years ago. It continues to be an inspiration and comfort to us always, especially during the difficult times. I embrace that joy. I celebrate Andy's life and give thanks for him, and everyone surrounding him, for all the joy that you continue to bring - a wonderful legacy indeed.
You have left us too soon my friend, but your joy endures forever...
