I was a child in South Philly 1970s Dr G always gave his special injections to clear any cold also use the tube connected to table to evacuate any congestion . He was a miracle worker. I can still see and smell the wood in his office filled with Norman Rockwell paintings . What an amazing Dr

I REMEMBER DR GIORDANO COMMING TO MY HOUSE IN SOUTH PHILA WHEN I WAS A SMALL CHILD AND HE WOULD SAY "BREATH LIKE A DOGGIE" WHEN HE EXAMINED ME. BRINGS BACK SO MANY MEMORIES.

Mrs. Giordano and family,
I was so very sorry to hear of the passing of the greatest pediatrician who ever practiced in Philadelphia. Not only was he a professional at all times but a true gentleman. My mother had 2 sons and she absolutely SWORE by Dr. G. Plus, mention his name to her and she will reiterate the same story that she has told since I was about 1 year old. Dr. Giordano saved my life! I couldn't hold any solids or liquids and I was growing weaker and more fragile by the hour. My mom found me lying on the floor of my playpen lifeless. She took me to Dr. G's office and he took us right in. He gave me a thorough examination and "ordered" my mother to take me to the hospital. It turned out that I had a bowel/intestinal infection and was dehydrated. She was told that had she waited another day, I would have died. My veins were so collapsed they had to draw blood and feed me through the veins on top of my head. Even though I eventually came around Dr. G told my mom that I would have recurrences throughout my entire lifetime. And, so it has been. But I am able to deal with it with today's modern medicine. I wouldn't be here if not for Dr. Giordano. I pray that this wonderful man rests in eternal peace. He is now with his brothers, of which Carmen was my teacher at the old Edgar Allen Poe School. May his wife and family have the strength to get them through this most difficult time. God Bless you all and thank you forever, Dr. Giordano!

Mrs. Gioradno,
I was sad to hear of Dr. Giordano's passing. My mother took the 5 of us to him form birth. I remember sitting in the office with much trepidation and seeing him come in with those glasses and big white labcoat because I knew that a needle was coming and I hated those injections. (After 20 years of playing soccer and ice hockey with a few surgeries, I got used to pain.) Years later, my mother would tell us that there were few physicians as thorough as Dr. Giordano because he would listen to the parents and take the time the parents needed. One time, I was hurt on the weekend and had to be taken to the hospital. The resident on duty was perplexed as to my injury and all of a sudden who walks by, but Dr Giordano. My parents were so relieved. When I had my son in 1992, my wife and I went through 2 pediatricans before we found one that we liked. I kept saying, these guys don't seem to be thorough enough. My mother said, "if your are not fully confident in your pediatrician, you'll won't be able to sleep. You know how I felt about Dr. Giordano. I never worried." I am happy that he lived a long and happy 92 years. May he rest in peace.

When someone touches so many lives in such a quiet and unassuming way, it is easy for people to forget how much good this person did during their life time. At least 3 generations of families owe the health and well being of their children to Dr. Giordano. He was my pediatrician as he was to so many others. He saved my life like he did so many others. He listened to my mom when it seemed no one else would. He listened to me as I was growing up and asked so many questions about my scar and how it got there. He cultivated an interest in medicine in a little boy, and years later, helped me get into medical school. Today, he is still the primary example I use to my students and residents when I teach about how we need to truly LISTEN to parents when they bring their child to see us. I only hope that I care for my patients half as good as he did. 42 years later, I still try and learn the lesson he lived every day when he was a doc on Broad Street. My condolences to the family. He was truly a great man.

I was sorry to hear of the passing of 'Dr. G'. Please accept my deepest condolences to all his family. I met Dr. Giordano twice in my life...when Cindi and I came to Philly to visit while we were in graduate school with Ron (and to see that magnificent Mummer's Day Parade, sitting at your living room window, looking down on Broad Street, as the parade passed by below!!), and the day that Ron made Cindi his bride/wife. I will never forget how kind and gracious Dr. and Mrs. Giordano were to me. It is right and just that he had such a long life and shared such happy times with his family before his passing. He was a good, and fine, man...and will be missed by so many. Know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time...as you remember the wonderful man who you called husband, father, and grandfather. Love and Peace...

Everyone knew Dr Giordano.I am now 51 yrs old. Mom mever told us we were going for our check ups until we turned left on Broad Street on the side of his meticulously kept office that's imprinted in my memory. Being the youngest of 4 we went quite often. And I also remember when you were too sick to go out he would come to the house. Of course Mom had to get us out from under the tables when he arrived. We often wondered what happened to him after he retired. It was sad to hear of his passing but it sounds like he had a nice full life. He always had a gentle smile on his face. He was a giant of a man , clearly with a love for kids. God Bless you... Dr. Giordano

Dr. Giordano was my husbands baby doctor and he was my two sons baby doctor, who are now 30 and 25. It seemed no matter how sick you were, when Dr. Giordano looked at you, the medicine he gave you made you better by the next day. He was truly the greatest. May he rest in peace, my condolences to his wife and family.

I will always remember Dr. Giordano for his booming voice ("Hey there, big girl!") and imposing figure -- he seemed eight feet tall to me! -- but also for his kind and gentle manner. I remember him making house calls and just feeling better knowing he was on his way. This is sad news but I am comforted to see he lived such a long, happy life.
