Our thoughts and prayers have been going out to the Ebert family since hearing about the loss of Dan. Dan was a wonderful person to know and to work with at GSK. I have many fond memories of Dan including the “Bring Your Child to Work” Days, as well as times out of the office for various events like the Year 2000 New Year party when we could all get together for some fun. Mary Beth especially remembers with fondness meeting Pat and Dan and their beautiful children at the first GSK picnic we attended.
I enjoyed the years Dan and I worked together at GSK. Dan was always so helpful and encouraging. Our first project (in 1999) was the Pheonis Medical Imaging project. It was a difficult project and Dan was a major reason for making it a success. Dan always looked out for me and helped me assimilate into GSK from my first day. He made me comfortable and welcomed me into the “GSK family” (it was like a family back then) and he was always there to keep me on the right track.

While working at GSK/Smithkline, I had the privilege of working with Dan on numerous IT projects. He had a great work ethic and was a great role model for me. He was always one of the first in and the last ones to leave. Besides having a great work ethic, he was also very ethical! We played golf together quite a bit in the company golf league. When I hit a bad shot I had the tendency to throw out a few expletives deleted! Dan would always yell over at me that I should wash my mouth out with soap when we finished! He always made me the better person when he was around! We´ll miss him!

My sincere condolences on the Dan´s passing. I had the privilege of working with Dan on a number of IT projects during my tenure at SKF/SB/GSK headquarters in Philadelphia from 1988 through 2003. While we didn´t always agree on things, Dan was the always the consummate IT professional, an expert project manager and a genuinely nice person. On the lighter side, there came a time when SB decided they would no longer fund refreshments for business meetings. Therefore, Dan and I agreed to alternate providing donuts for our weekly status team meetings. This turned into a contest of sorts as to which of us could bring in the fanciest donuts from a variety of bakeries throughout the Philadelphia/South Jersey area each week. On a more serious note, I learned many things from Dan on how the IT function works in a large corporation and how IT projects are managed that have continued to serve me well into my post-GSK career.
