Dear Helen:
As you well know, this life is not all there was. Life here on earth was just the dress rehearsal before the real production for Derrick. This life was preparation for the next. Derrick's body was just a temporary residence for his spirit. The Bible calls your earthly body a "tent" but refers to your future body as a "house". The Bible says, "When this tent we live in - our body here on earth is torn down, God will have a house in heaven for us to live in, a home he himself has made, which will last forever. Even though Derrick has only been with us a short time here on earth, may you rest assured knowing that you will be together again someday, when you to are called "home" to live with him in eternity. God Bless We Love You

Dear Helen, My dearest Friend:
Oh, the joy we all knew the day (7/25/66) when Derrick was born, a beautiful bouncing boy held in all of our loving arms. He was our first baby and he had so many Moms (Betty, Clara, Diane, Geraldine, Helen, Muriel, Shirley and Tony) directing his path and who loved him so. But, God loved him best and is now holding him in his everlasting arms saying..."well done my good and faithful servant - welcome home"

Dear Ms Bullock,
I want to express my deepest sympathy for the loss of Derrick. I am in disbelief with regards to his passing. As you know, Derrick and I have been close friends since we were younsters. I recently saw him over the summer at the Acme on Germantown Avenue and had the chance to introduce him to one of my sons. I had invited him to visit me in Maryland when I was settled. We use to mostly keep in contact on his birthday as both of us are a month apart in age.
Although we hadn't remained in contact with each other as much as we would have liked to, we were always close in spirit. When we did see each other it was like time had never passed. I do not have the words to say how much of a loss I also feel. Derrick has always had a good spirit. Through his good nature I know that Derrick has touched many lives. Derrick's legacy will live on through those lives he has touched and he will always be in our hearts.

DEAR HELEN,
YOU HAVE ALWAYS BEEN LIKE A SECOND MOTHER TO ME, IT HURTS ME SO MUCH TO KNOW THE PAIN THAT YOU ARE ENDURING WITH DERRICK'S SENSELESS LOSS. THOUGH WE HAD NOT SEEN EACH OTHER RECENTLY, DERRICK WAS LIKE A BROTHER TO ME, WHEN I THINK OF MY CHILDHOOD AND EARLY ADULT YEARS, MANY OF THOSE THOUGHTS INCLUDE DERRICK BULLOCK, WE WOULD PLAY BASKETBALL/BASEBALL/FOOTBALL, LISTEN TO MUSIC FOR HOURS AT A TIME TOGETHER, WE TRULY WERE LIKE "PEAS AND CARROTS". I THANK GOD THAT I SAW HIM BEFORE GOD CALLED HIM HOME. WE TALKED, AND HE KNOWS I NEVER FORGOT HIM AND LOVED HIM AS HE WAS, MY BROTHER!!!
GOD BLESS YOU HELEN, I LOVE YOU!!

Dear Helen,
Words cannot express how my heart hurts for you & your family at the loss of your son, Derrick.
I thank God for his life which is a testament to his upbringing.
And of some have compassion, making a difference. Jude v. 22
May we glean forgiveness, mercy, compassion, and love in our daily walk (as Derrick demonstrated throughout his life). Lord help us to make a difference!
May God continue to keep you in the center of His divine will.
Much Love

Helen & Dallas,
The Lord says, I feel the hurt, I see the tears, but remember I am only a prayer away.
We look for our children to out live us. But God has our lives out lined for us. To know how many lives Derrick touched during his life time is a blessing. The word of God said and her children shall rise and call her blessed. The message that Derrick's life gave and is still giving truly says he called you blessed. He lived a life of loving and giving, the life that you and Dallas display.
I know it hurts, but you did a great job raising him and we can truly say he let the life he lived speek for him; because it has. Stay strong in the Lord and remember He is always by your side.
Helen my heart hurts with you
Love you much
