Dear Roz and family,
Let me extend to you my deepest condolences. Don was a very special human being, someone who had a significant influence in my personal and professional life. I was fortunate to have met Don in 1994 and to have maintained an ongoing relationship that helped me [and others] begin to make sense of life. Generous to a fault with his time and wisdom, Don's infectious personality and great wit meant that every interaction was always challenging yet memorable.

My last memory of Don was nearly three years ago when I visited him at his home. Despite his recent stoke, we spent some time exchanging some wonderful stories and experiences. Hardly a day passes in my life without the mention of Donald Nathason's name.
Don's contribution to the Restorative Justice movement cannot be overstated.

I am truly grateful that I came to know Donald Nathanson.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Don was one of the most influential teacher/mentor/friends in my professional and personal life. He encouraged me to take concepts he introduced to me, and to expand them to new places. His work to get recognition of Silvan Tompkins Affect Theory into the mainstream of Psychiatry was so important. His recognition of the feeling of shame/humiliation and it's central role in personality and psychology was momentous. The faith he had in me was invaluable to my development as a Psychiatrist and a human being. I was genuinely lucky to have had Don come into my life, and I will never forget him.
