Edward DIXON Obituary

DIXON Edward Albert "Duck" Of Newtown Square, PA, passed away on March 3, 2025 at the age of 72. He leaves behind his loving teammate and wife of 50 years, Mary Ann (Bannon). Very proud father of Kristina (Eric) Eichhorst and Stephanie (John) Waters and PopPop to Amelia and Adeline Eichhorst and Jack, Eddie and Charlie Waters whom he loved and adored. Ed was born in Bryn Mawr on December 9, 1952, the son of late Edward Thomas Dixon and Jane (Nulty) Dixon. He is survived by his sister Patricia (Dale) Wilcox and his brother Francis, many close lifelong friends and extended family members. He grew up in Narberth, PA and attended St. Margaret's Grade School, where they instilled his deep Catholic faith. Ed was a graduate of Lower Merion High School Class of 1971. Ed had many varied interests and hobbies. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and loved watching the "Iggles" win the Super Bowl. He was an accomplished hunter and fisherman. He spent hours tending to his gardens that were admired by many. Later in his life he became interested in beekeeping. He built hives and always had an update on "his bees." His interest in art and antiques stem from his family's affiliation with the Barnes Foundation. He loved to travel whether it was to an island beach or to visit museums in Europe. Ed's favorite place was his second home in Equinunk, PA admiring the beautiful "view" of the sunset and sitting at his pond. His friends will remember him for his story telling. He never missed an opportunity to reminisce about the good old days or reenact a hunting story that always began with "so there I was." Ed was an Electrical Contractor (E.A. Dixon Electric LLC) working on the Main Line, Philadelphia, New Jersey and Delaware for 44 years where he became and remained friends with many clients and business associates. He took great pride in his work. He was a third generation firefighter and Life Member of the Narberth Fire Company. He was a Trustee of Historic Trappe where he volunteered many hours towards the restoration of The Speaker's House. He was a Board Member and past president of the Fork Mountain Association. He greatly appreciated the support of everyone during his battle with cancer which he faced with a faithful, positive and courageous attitude. The family will receive guests on Mon. evening from 6 to 8 P.M. in the CHADWICK AND McKINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 30 E. Athens Ave., Ardmore, PA and Tues. morning after 9:30 A.M. in St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA, where his Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Chadwick & McKinney FH www.chadwickmckinney.com

I'm so sorry to hear of Ed's passing. I regret just hearing about it and missing his service. Mary Ann, please know I'm holding you and your family in the light. Ed will be greatly missed. I worked closely with his Mother and Aunt at the Barnes Foundation and was always happy to share stories from the old days with him.

I am very sorry to hear of Ed´s passing. I met Ed around 2017 through a class at the Barnes Foundation taught by Richard Wattenmaker. I always enjoyed talking to Ed and hearing his stories about his grandfather Albert Nulty and running around playing in the galleries of the foundation as a child. Ed was a very kind and genuine person who loved his family very much. I am very fortunate to have had the chance to meet him and get to know him. I wish his family peace and comfort during this challenging time.
