My deepest and most sincere condolences in your time of sorrow. May you find comfort in the knowledge that your husband/father/father-in law lived a full and fruitful life and was much-loved by those that knew him and was VERY proud of you, his family. Mr. S. was a Fishtown fixture and I have SO many pleasant memories of my interactions with him. As a child running up to Girard Ave. to drop off or retrieve my Dad’s work shoes, my school shoes or whoever else’s shoes in the family that needed attention. Mr. S. chit chatting with this shy kid and letting me try my hand at using the knife to shape the heels of the shoes. Ah, the smell and sights of the shop...the leather, the polishes, the machines, the stacks and stacks of shoes and boots, how I loved it all! How did they ever find peoples’ shoes in all that organized chaos? Fast forward to my young adult life, working in the travel industry, trading travel stories with him and the Missus. Imagine my shock when I saw him, Mrs. S and Frannie on a domestic flight in Mexico traveling from Mexico City to Manzanillo! Then years later on a flight from Tokyo to Hong Kong! Rest in Peace oh beloved man.

Mrs. S, Frannie and Eric,
My deepest condolences on the passing of Mr. S. He was one of the nicest and approachable people I've ever had the pleasure to meet. He always had a smile on his face when ever I saw him along with shoe polish on his hands. As everyone knows, he was a wonderful husband and father and one heck of a shoe repairman. I had a pair of shoes that latest me 20 years because every two years Mr. S would resole them and never charge me a penny. I will remember him as a generous soul and a good hearted gentleman. Even though I had not seen him in the past bunch of years, I had and always will fondly remember him for his genuine good nature. The world needs more people like Mr. Staniszweski. Rest in Peace !

My deepest and sorrowful condolences to the Staniszewski family. Last summer when Mr. Staniszeski fixed the soles of my favorite pair of Kenneth Coles I wanted to kiss him. He made them new again. I told him I didn't know what I would have done without him all these years. He laughed and said "honey you better figure something out I'm not gonna be here forever". I told him I didn't want to think about it, now I have to. Very sad to hear of his passing. Many a pair of my shoes lasted me so much longer after he had his gifted hands on them for repair. I will truly miss him.

Mrs. Staniszewski, Fran and Eric,
I remember coming into the store and seeing Mr. Staniszewski working diligently, covered in shoe polish and/or grease, with a big smile, pleasant comment and a hug all ready. He was a true gentleman, who loved you all very much. My sympathies to you on the loss of this gentle and caring man. He will be missed.
