EUGENE PENDLETON Obituary

PENDLETON EUGENE DEFORREST Feb. 17, 1953 - Jan. 11, 2022 Eugene Deforrest Pendleton was born on February 17, 1953 in Woodbury, NJ to Luther and Jeanne Pendleton. He was the second of ten children. He attended Woodbury High School and graduated in 1972. He made his dedication to Jehovah and got baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on July 3, 1972. He was married to his wife Wanda on October 19, 1974. Together, they had their only child, Gina Marie, his "precious daughter". When she married in 2004, he also inherited a "beloved son", Tommy Elvir. We are saddened that his life ended suddenly on January 11, 2022 he was 68 years old. Gene was a hard worker. He worked at various jobs throughout his life. For the last 25 years he worked as a machine mechanic for the Courier Post of Cherry Hill, NJ and the Philadelphia Inquirer at the Schuylkill Printing Plant, from which he retired in May of 2019. The diligent worker that he was, Gene never took one sick day off from work for the last 43 of 45 years. He loved his family. Family was a big thing for him. His sisters and brothers knew that for a fact. And so did Wanda's brothers and sisters. He loved spending time with his big brother, Luther and Luther's grandchildren, Jordan, Legend, and Page. And he looked forward to weekly visits with his father-in-law to have a meal and to enjoy any type of sport Dad wanted to watch on TV. He always enjoyed sports even as a young man, Gene was a standout track star in high school and playing basketball throughout his life. Even as he got older he enjoyed staying active. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Jeanne Pendleton, also by his sister, Hilda, and his brothers Howard and William. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Wanda, and by his daughter, Gina Marie Elvir (Tommy). His siblings Luther, Lawrence, Joseph, Vicky, Curtis, and James. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Gene touched the lives of those he came in contact with. He had a keen awareness of the needs of others and readily took their needs into consideration. His kind and loving disposition will be fondly remembered and missed by all who knew him. I´m so sorry to hear of Gene´s passing. I worked with him at the printing plant and always found him to be a kind and gentle soul.
Blessings to his family.
