I will always remember and be grateful to my buddy-acquaintance, Harry Abraham. He not only influenced my love for "Jazz", but also encouraged me to write reviews of my personally owned new "Jazz" recordings for his "Different Drummer" magazine. This all lead to me producing and announcing my own "Jazz" Shows continuously since around 1980.

Thanks to Harry for all he revealed to me in
"The Best of All Possible Worlds"...

My wife and I were just talking tonight and I said to her "do you remember Harry Abraham?" I googled him and just found this site. We are now heartbroken, because Harry provided the soundtrack for our courtship. My wife was a big Abraham fan and we both used to listen at night. Once while we were dating (and I was trying to impress her) I said why don't we go see Harry. I called the station and much to my surprise he said "come on down". He let us in the back door of the studio over on East Ave and we spent about an hour with him just listening to tunes and watching him work. He gave us a couple of albums and we went on our way.

We have been married for 32 years now, and it has been "the best of all possible worlds".

The world is a less jazzy place without Harry.

I never met Harry, but it seemed like I knew him as his style was conversational. I listened to "the Best of All Possible Worlds" religiously while making frequent drives from Kentucky to Pennsylvania. From him, I learned of Chick Corea, Brian Auger, George Benson, and countless others. He challenged me to search the record stores so I could play these artists on a small 10 watt college radio station with my own weekly jazz show. His memory will live forever in my music collection and my memory. Thanks Harry.

HARRY VISITED COOPERSTOWN EVERY SUMMER TO ATTEND GLIMMERGLASS OPERA. WE BECAME GOOD FRIENDS AND I AM SO SAD AND SURPRISED TO HEAR OF HIS DEATH. HE WAS A GREAT GUY AND FUN TO BE WITH. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM. WE EXPECTED HIM TO BE IN COOPERSTOWN NEXT WEEK. WE'll miss you harry.

Harry Abraham was a buddy-acquaintance. I listened to him religiously back in the 70's while in grad school; wrote some record reviews for his "Different Drummer" magazine; and, ended up working for the same company he worked for, Rust Communications (WRXL-FM). My shows through the years have been build on the same structural format as Harry's. He was the jazz educator and trend setter for many getting into the music. I was not aware he was ill. My condolences to his family. RIP in "The Best of All Possible Worlds"...

Proud to have known, if only briefly, a fascinating man with a no-nonsense, bottom line attitude. He fought til the end.

Sorry to hear of Harry's passing. I moved to VT from NYC in 1967. There was no jazz on any local stations. I discovered "The Best of All Possible Worlds" quite by accident. I worked in the restaurant business and always came home late. I'd sat in my car in the apartment parking lot one night looking for a baseball game
and had a couple of beers to take the edge of the work shift. Then I stumbled on to WHAM. The reception was never good in my apartment, so from that time on, regardless of the weather, I would sit in my parked car and listen to Harry. More than once, my ex-wife would come out(in her housecoat & bedroom slippers), rap on the window and urged me back into the apartment before someone called the police. She never understood my love for the music Harry was playing. In my small way, I am currently following in his large footsteps.

You changed my life forever! I listened to "The Best Of All Possible Worlds" all through high school, at home, cruising in the car, every night - way out in Milwaukee, Wis. you could still get the signal! You exposed me to the music that formed my style as a player. I'll be forever a fan and thankful to you.

Harry, you were my greatest inspiration and primary role-model for getting involved in presenting jazz on radio. Thank you. Your legacy lives on, dancing to a different drummer in the best of all possible worlds. Bright Moments!

Harry, you touched more people than you'll ever know, in the most important way, in the wee hours of the morning.
Thanks for those great nights and memories.
