HAROLD HARR ALDERFER, M.D., on May 4, 2006, of West Chester. Husband of Shirley (nee Koch) Alderfer. Father of Rebecca Alderfer and Karen Whelan; also survived by one grandson. He was predeceased by one brother, Henry Harr Alderfer, M.D. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Service 11 A.M., Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at First Presbyterian Church, Miner and Darlington Sts. West Chester. Visitation, 10 to 11 A.M., Wednesday at the Church. Interment Birmingham-Lafayette Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Harold H. Alderfer, M.D. to the Chester County Hospital, 701 East Marshall St., West Chester PA 19380 or Children's Hospital Foundation, 34th Street and Civic Center Blvd., Phila. PA 19104. Arr. by

Dr. Alderfer took care of all six children in my family. My parents, now deceased, became quite fond of him over the years and even had him (along with his two daughters) over to visit at our home one afternoon.He was a big guy in the eyes of a small child but gentle, kind, and personable. My family has mentioned him so often in conversations of our childhood- we often wondered where he was and how he was doing. Our family left the West Chester area in 1967 but we took many wonderful memories that are still so much alive. Dr. Alderfer was one of them. I am saddened to hear of his passing as it feels like so much in life simply passes by so quietly.
