Helene M. Hamlin

Hamlin Helene M. Of Voorhees, NJ, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2024, at the age of 90. Beloved mother of Debbie Hamlin (Kenneth Cavanagh), Dianne Haydock, David Hamlin, Donna Hamlin (Patrick Wodack), Denise Rinarello (the late Anthony). Loving grandmother of Matthew Hamlin-Cavanagh, Sarah Haydock Dall, Andrew Haydock, Alex Carson, and Nicole Ragone. Great-Grandmother of three. Also survived by her great-niece Heather Klem Pierson (Joe Pierson) and many dear friends including Jack Davis, Pat Glascott, Randy Teague, and Bruno Catete. Predeceased by her parents, Oscar and Rose (Treu) Mayer and her siblings Ed Mayer (Mary), Sister Marie Perpetua Mayer of Nazareth Academy, Alma Recine (Ted) and Marion Klem (Al). She also leaves behind her beloved grand puppy Rusty, who she adored, as well as her current cat, Sandy 2.0. Helene worked at the University of Pennsylvania as Business Administrator in the Department of Recreation and Athletics for 28 years. She enjoyed volunteering her time serving as President of the Heritage Grove Condo Association for over 20 years, a position she held until her passing. Helene volunteered at the Animal Welfare Association and enjoyed walking, training and socializing dogs in preparation for adoption. In her early years, she studied Method Acting with Lee Strasberg at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute in Los Angeles, CA. Throughout her life, Helene touched the hearts of many with her vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication to the arts. She was an actress and member of the lighting crew in numerous productions at Haddonfield Plays and Players Theatre Group and co-founded the Brown Bag Theatre troupe at U of PENN. Helene loved to travel with her family and friends around the world and throughout the US. In her later years, she enjoyed many road trips with her son. Above all, Helene loved her family and will be missed dearly. There will be a Visitation on November 15, 2024 from 10 A.M. to 12 Noon at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE. A Memorial Service will begin at 12 Noon with Words of Remembrance to follow. Interment is private at the request of the family.
