My name is Cooky Sachs Flynn (a name from the past) Joanne and I went to camp together MANY years ago and even visited one another several times. Hearing so much about Pennsylvania in the news I thought of Joanne and wanted to contact her. I feel like I am participating in a This Is Your Life episode. I want to begin by expressing my condolences for your Dad. I can still remember walking into your house for the first time and immediately taking a liking to your Mom and Dad Good ole Howie and even remember Meadowbrook, PA. Ellen had been to camp with us and I got a chance to meet Nora and Nick. Those were the good ole days. I would love to catch up with you. My email is [email protected] and my telephone number is 303 587 2656. Please extend my sympathy to your entire family. Much Love, Cooky I am spending most of my time in Breckenridge,Colorado (just down the road (kind of from Estes Park)

Dearest Adele and family,
Although extended family we didn't get to see each other and visit often, but whenever we did have the opportunity Mother & Daddy (RB & Ralph Nattans)enjoyed our visits as much as I did. I fondly remember for Daddy's 75th birthday when our entire family was together in Avalon for a week and we all biked from our rental house (all 12 of us!) to your beautiful place on the water for a visit. It was fun to have that branch of the family together even if only briefly. Please know the Nattans Clan sends you our condolences and want you to know you're all in our thoughts and prayers. He was a lovely, loving, caring man and will be missed. Diane Nattans Griffiths

I had the previledge to meet Howard from coming in to Acme Markets to order a cake for one of his lunch budies birthday. Howard was such a kind and generous man. When he would come in to Acme almost every Tuesday to pick up a cake, he would have a cup of coffee and he talked very highly about his family. I am greatful that I had the chance to meet Howard and I have fond memories of our great conversations. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time.

One of my favorite Howard memories are the times we visited the beach house in Avalon, NJ. Howard would ask everyone what kind of hoagie they wanted for lunch; then he'd hop on his bicycle and pedal down to the village to get the subs. He delighted in doing for others. When it came to giving, Howard was a Goliath. He had a great sense of humor and loved nothing better than chewing the fat with you about anything and everything. He will be missed.

Howard was the nicest person I ever knew. He was interested in everybody and made everyone feel special. His generosity had no limit. I used to love the Fleisher family visits to Pleasantville. Howard would lumber up the stairs, go in the house and settle in the living room with his feet up, and light the biggest cigar I ever saw. I miss him.

Howard was one of my favorite uncles, I always enjoyed him and his big-hearted warmth when I made childhood summertime visits to Philly. Recently, I was able to introduce him to my wife (Lisa), and I was happy for the reconnection.

I was privileged to get to know Howard while working with both he and his sister, Suzanne, on the restoration launch and then opening of the Alfred Fleisher Memorial Synagogue at Eastern State Penitentiary, as well as the Jewish Publication Society's 120th Anniversary -- both of which honored their father's memory and legacy to the City of Philadelphia and the Jewish community. Howard was a pleasure to work with -- a kind, thoughtful, sweet man who took great delight and pride in his family's history, childhood memories and celebrating his father's accomplishments, and was sincerely grateful for his moment in the spotlight. I'm honored to have been able to help bring him that joy, and lucky to have known him. To the Fleisher and Roberts families, I offer heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy. May his memory be for a blessing.

Howard was my uncle and some of my fondest memories of my childhood (having grown up on the west coast and only visiting once a year) were of Howard teaching me something about business and ethics. As an adult, we discussed the many ways to play 16 v a dealer's paint... In addition to his many friends and loving family, I will personally miss one of my favorite uncles.... Howard you already are missed.

There was never a time in my life when Howard wasn't there. He was one of the pillars of my childhood and I will miss him greatly. Always ready with a big smile and a "How ya doing'?", he was a kind and generous man. This is a great loss for the Fisher family as well as the Fleishers.

Knowing Howard, and working with him the past few years has added so much to my life. Thanks to Howard, the Alfred Fleisher Memorial Synagogue at the Eastern State Penitentiary became a reality. He was an amazing individual. To Adele and the rest of the family - my sincere condolences.
