JAMES HARDY Obituary

HARDY
JAMES DEWEY JR.
Age 87, passed peacefully on March 6 at the Veteran's Hospital in Coatesville, PA. Mr. Hardy was a graduate of Upper Darby High School and the University of Pennsylvania. He lived most of his adult life in Paoli, PA. and spent his career in advertising, both in Philadelphia and New York City. Jim was commissioned as an officer in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was an avid sportsman and gun collector, enjoyed tennis and dabbled as a playwright. The devoted son of the late Fannie M. and James Dewey Hardy, Sr., upon his death, Jim established a scholarship named for his parents. Its' purpose is to benefit deserving Upper Darby High School students in furthering their education. It was Jim's teacher Miss Geisinger who inspired him through both her teaching and philanthropy. Friends will gather 10:30 A.M. Thurs at the Toppitzer Funeral Home at Arlington to share and remember, followed by his burial.

I'm sorry to learn of Jim's passing. He was a long time friend and gun enthusiast of my late husband. Condolences to his family and friends. Mrs. Pearl M. Nudy

Jim was actively involved in several community theater groups in the area, including The Players Club of Swarthmore. He thoroughly enjoyed acting, directing, stage managing and being involved in productions. He was warm, friendly and enthusiastic about anything he worked on. I admire him most for his offering to bring a long time friend, Doris French, to see our shows after she was no longer capable of driving. He did this for many years. Quite a gentleman, indeed.
