JOHN EVERTS Obituary

EVERTS JOHN BARTLE, JR. Of Media, PA passed away peacefully in hospice on August 16, 2021. Born in New York, son of the late Rev. John and Dorothy Bradley Everts, he graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1961 and began a career in journalism at the Manhattan Bureau of the Stars and Stripes newspaper. He went on to work in the sports information departments at Franklin & Marshall and Temple University. Everts was a longtime member of the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association, a statistician for the Philadelphia 76ers home games, and was the time keeping official for the 2008 NBA Finals in Boston. He was an avid Phillies fan who enjoyed reading, classic movies, the New York Times crossword puzzle, and spending time with friends and family. He is survived by his wife Judith (nee Pyle), children Gretchen Valianti (Christopher) of Pitman, NJ, Kristin Nyce (Dr. Mark) of Savannah, GA, Bart Everts of Philadelphia, five grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and his sister Deborah Behling (Richard) of Wilmington, DE.
