mr.shoop was the only chef who believed in me when no one else did. My name is james m. Adams. And i had the joy of working with jack at the wharf seafood in tallahassee fl in 1992.He taught me two of the greatest insights to life, that i still use, and teach my own kids to this day....One...Look in the mirror!if you find yourself doing sonthing wrong..look in the mirror, and check yourself, then correct it....Two...As long as you love to cook, you will never be without work!...WHY?..EVERYBODY HAS TO EAT, AND NOBODY WANTS TO COOK..I thank you MR.shoop you made me who I am today..I will miss you.Your love of the art lives on in me:{ thank you

My prayers go out to the entire Shoop Family and Friends. Jack was a great Culinary Master. However he was a better friend, always living life and cooking full throtle. Now he is working with the chefs who inspired him, Escoffier, Careme, Point, et al. Dinner just got more Heavenly.

Jack Shoop CMC was my friend & mentor from the day I started working for him in 1983 at Jacques Upper Crust and subsequently at the Ponte Vecchio and Golden Pheasant. He taught me Escoffier. Any one who knows cuisine knows that is everything. His attention to detail was masterful and eloquent. It was his teaching that elevated my career.

My sincerest thoughts and prayers go out to Christy his wife, daughters Jennifer, Jacquelyn, and Hailey. Sister Diane, brothers Allan and Joe as well as his extended family and there are many of us. He has been a true inspiration in my life, from my days at the CIA to the day of his passing. I can see Jack standing side by side with Escoffier looking down at all of us. We should now celebrate the excellence that he stood for and make him proud. So long my dear friend.
Gone but not forgotten.

Jack was a true culinary artist who brought pleasure to many over the years with his
fine food. We were friends and associated through business during his early years in Tallahassee when he raised the level of local dining to new heights.
Jack was a delightful and talented man and I am happy to have known him and shared some of his great meals.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Our heartfelt condolences to Christine and the children. Chef Shoop will always have a special place in the hearts of the Gulf Coast Community College Culinary Management program. He joins John Holley, and Chef Jon Bullard. Jack gave me a poster once that had a quote that sums up Jack. "If the divine creator has taken pains to give us delicious and exquisite things to eat,the least we can do is prepare them well and serve them with ceremony"
