JOSEF MESSMER Obituary

MESSMER JOSEF Josef Messmer, 83, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born March 26, 1938 in Czech Republic, he was the son of the late Josef and Anna (Koran) Messmer. He was a very educated man and obtained his master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Josef was employed as a consultant in the transportation industry for many years. Josef enjoyed golfing, hiking and traveling with his wife. He was a very talented model kit builder, building many intricate and beautiful ships and types of models throughout his lifetime. His phenomenal attention to detail was quite obvious when looking at his work. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lidia (Lau) Messmer and a brother, Peter Messmer of Austria. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the THOMAS L. GEISEL FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, Chambersburg, PA.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Doctors Without Borders USA, P.O. Box 5030, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5030 or online at www.doctorswithoutborders.org.

I worked with Josef building the Shack for ship model demonstrations at the Seaport Museum in Philadelphia. He was always fun to work with and had a talented skill set. His model making was outstanding. So sorry for our loss.
