My dearest "little peanut" Valerie,
I am so sad to hear about what happened. Your mom is a great lady. She loves you so much. I am so glad to be a part of your life for the time I was your nanny and now your friend. I consider you one of my own. Even though I now live far away, I think of you often. Please hug your grandpa for me. I love you, peanut. And yes, you will always be my peanut!

To the Family of Professor Heidt,
I was a student of Professor Heidt this past spring semester. Although I only knew her for a few months, she made a tremendous impact on my life. Professor Heidt was a genuinely warm-hearted person, who welcomed me into her home to give her lessons. She gave me challenging assignments, offered me positive feedback on my work, and helped me achieve my full potential. She was also instrumental in getting me involved with the Business Bankruptcy Committee, and moreover, opening my eyes to this wonderful field of law. In short, Professor Heidt was truly special - she was able to see in me what many do not. For that, I will always be grateful. I extend my deepest sympathies to you in your time of sorrow.

To Valerie and Kate's other extended family,
Kate was truly loved and will be missed greatly. She was a wonderful parent, a good and loyal friend, a great scholar, and a person of great fortitude.
She made a significant contribution to legal scholarship in the areas of bankruptcy, environmental and mass tort law.
She and I shared a fascination for the intersection of environmental and bankruptcy law. She, accordingly, honored me by inviting me to write a review of her landmark treatise, Environmental Obligations in Bankruptcy.
We worked together for almost 20 years in the Business Bankruptcy Committee of the ABA Section of Business Law, which she chaired until recently.
I join Katie's many other friends in extending my deepest sympathy to you on her untimely passing.
Sincerely
