Rest In Peace, Father Madden. My wonderful beautiful loving aunt who you knew well is also laid to rest at this time. This world has really great counsel in heaven on our behalf. We sure need it these days.

I am shocked to hear this news ...We so wanted to re-visit Fr Larry who married us in Germany in 1967. He was instrumental in converting my wife to Catholicism and became a dear freind to us while we were in the service and in years afterwards. Rest in peace Larry ....hope your playing the piano for the faithful in Heaven ...Rich and Sue Palmieri

Rennie ( I still call him Rennie)and my sister Patti have known him since the 1930s beginning in Ocean City, NJ. While we have not seen one another for years we recently began conversing by e-mail. We Have such great memories of him throughout those early years in OC and have thought of him often. It was with great sorrow that we have just learned of his passing. God bless and reward him for all his wonderful years of service to so many during his priesthood. Patti and I will never forget him. Our deepest condolences to his sister Mary Sue and brother Bernie. You and your families are in our prayers.

Fr. Madden, Larry to many of us was a wonderful Jesuit, a caring and joyful person. Always with a huge smile and a teasing comment. I now live in PA and have missed Holy Trinity, and especially Larry Madden, S.J. There are wonderful joyful memories of sailing in Annapolis, and I am grateful to have met and and had him as a friend for many years. He contributed much as a priest and pastor at Holy Trinity and will never be forgotten for the joy he brought into my life. My condolences to his family in PA. his Jesuit community, and many friends. He will be missed.

Our family met Fr. Madden when we moved to Washington, DC just last year. He readily became a family friend who gained our trust. His presence was one of acceptance, shared humanity, and joyousness. We shared meals, shows, and long discussions. We found his masses insightful, Love-focused. We feel his passing is too soon for our liking... of course we accept, as he would, it was his time.
Fr. Madden, thank you for the memories, the loving welcome. May your blessedness in a life well lived and well contemplated be felt by all whose hearts and minds you touched.
Our condolences to the Madden family, our brothers and sisters in Christ...

Rennie Madden was my dad's boyhood friend. They reconnected in the 1980's. He was a prince and a gentleman. He officiated my father's funeral mass. Now that are together again. Thank you for being a wonderful person Father Madden.

What a sad, sad loss. Words can't express all that Fr. Madden gave our family, and so many other members and visitors of Holy Trinity. He must have found the peace and reward ("eye cannot see") promised those who serve Him. And in the meanwhile, we can try to observe his words and example. Our deep sympathies to his family and fellow Jesuits.

Bless and console his sister and brother and their families too. Fr. Madden was a man of great courage, humanity and intelligence. Surely one of the finest pastors in the parish's history.

My family always felt a burst of joy when we saw Father Madden on the altar. The message that came through in all his sermons was you can't be sad and grateful at the same time. I guess we have to remember that now. Our wishes and prayers go out to his family.
